Well...

I thought it was a complete RIP-OFF ^^' .......no? too soon?

Emrox responds:

Classic.

Truly sad..

Nicely done, didn't saw that coming! The modelling was nicely done aswel, only I find it hard to believe that you've spent 300 hours on the project...seriously, what computer did you use for rendering? A PentiumII? Sure the softlighting take a lot of computing power, that was nicely done. But did you use a skylight? In future endevors you might try and use Mentalray® Renderer and photometric lighting, that gives the same effect and is really much much faster than Scanline with a Skylight.

Keep the great animations coming, thanks!

orb responds:

Actually I didn't use a skylight. Skylights don't exist in maya, only in 3dsmax.

I did actually use mental ray to render, with a custom ambient occlusion pass. The reason it took so long to render I think is that I had the quality on the soft shadows very high, which took a long time to render the beauty pass on closeups of the face, especially areas like the eyes where there is a lot of intersecting geometry and transparent surfaces that cause soft shadows to take a long time to render.

Great animation!

The reason I'm not giving you a 10 is because at some points you use some really bad quality bitmaps rather than vectors. I know you want to keep the filesize small but compressing the bitmaps to nothing is not the way to do so. Further more you only have English available as language, but from other reviews I know you have an original (Japanese) soundtrack as well. Why can't we choose between the two?

But that was the end of the negatives ;) Because...DAMN that was good! The action is beautifully performed, and the models look very sleek. Good shading to top it off. The characters lack depth at the moment, but that's alright, I have a feeling that we get to know them a little better every episode. You have come up with a perfect hybrid of 3d animation and plain vector animation. It's nice to see something like this that hasn't been prerendered to a FLV movie, the vectors keep it very crisp! The animation and storytelling reminds me of a very good game called "Oni", those who have played it know what I mean ;)

Keeping an eye out for the next episode, they're something else!

GunChest responds:

what a great rivew...
so that way i made they can choice languages(Korean, English)
thanks

A job well done!

You are gifted with the power of great storytelling i'm telling you ;) The way you create a mood and world around your words and music is just superb. Nice for you to have done all the work yourself, music included, it just flowed seamlessly in your art. Also the (hard and time-consuming) frame by frame animation really stood out, and made the characters look more alive then if they'd be symbol animated. As for the story itself, it really got me curious about the sequel. But next to all the splendor of this animation, there were a few small points that could use a little improvement:

// music
try to isolate your recordings a bit more, there was a vast amount of voices and enviromentnoise in the background.

// animation
the point where you try to cut the foreground and the background trees loose with layers, you could have created a bit more layering in the animation, for it was a bit obvious that it where 2 pictures sliding among eachother.

As for the actionscenes: when you try to do quick motion with lower framerates, you could consider using some cut-techniques like changing camera-angles and flashes instead of viewing the complete action frame by frame. It could save some precious time for you aswell keeping the speed in the animation ;)

That's all that could use some improvement I guess, I'm really looking forward to see the next animation coming from you. You have some real potential, keep this series up, it aught to be a succes!

Ghosty22 responds:

What could you hear in the background? I thought I was being pretty good about making sure I recorded when no one was around... Although, when I was recording Brian's voice, his dogs were walking around, and I notice some dog tag jingling. Also, in the credits sequence, you can hear the neighbor's dog barking in the distance... I guess I left that in because it sounded weird... I also didn't notice it until much later.

Nice plot, but bad timing and physics

The storyline got my attention, and I liked the opening screen with the cursor. But the whole interface lacked sound, with the white noise there was no noise sound, the buttons didn't give response, a bit off a pity.

But the opening sequence, with the documents was nicely performed, the sound gave it a nice atmosphere to it. Dark and secret.

The anatomy looked somewhat off, but the amount of detail made up for it. Try getting more balance between the bodyparts, for example the neck was kind a short and extremely thick.

But all in all, the speed of events following each other up was a bit to fast, you didn't go into the backgrounds of the characters, and why are those events happening? What kind of company are they? etc.

The voilence was nicely performed, exploding heads always do the trick don't they :P

I liked the film in overall, but the next episode needs some work :) Like to see more of you, you got the feel for it.

Owh, and Def336: The story play's in like 2023, so the numbers are right ;) Pay a little attention to the given information before making claims of error :D

Gi-go responds:

Yeah thats a good idea. I think on the next one I'll add menu sounds and stuff, I was going to on this one I just didn't know if the first frame would take a while to load and piss people off.

Yeah, I'm still working on perfecting my anatomy, I am still on 15, I got ways to go.

As for the speed of events, I will explain everything fully in time, I did allt hat on purpose. That clips is only an intro for first time watchers.
